FabLab Libya
Our lab was founded by engineers who admired the idea and goals of a Fab Lab organization. It is registered as a civil society non-profit organization in Libya. Our lab basically provides public access to an adequately (but not fully) equipped Laboratory for digital fabrication and electronic innovation. It has been, so far, focusing in hosting training courses for kids and youth in programming, electronics and robotics, as well as running supervised DIY clubs for kids, various workshops and participating in events such as the first National Robotics championship in Libya. Furthermore, <mark>in pursuing its role as a STEAM education promoter in Libya, the lab has developed a curriculum for teaching programming to kids and contracted with a number of private elementary schools in Benghazi for teaching the curriculum to their students.</mark> <p></p> One of the very successful projects carried out by the lab, so far, was the 100 youth engineers and the 100 youth programmers; in which a large number of school students participated in a hands-on learning style training course on the basics of programming and electronics using Arduino development panel. At the end of the course ,the students were able to build their own Arduino projects or Android applications and participated in an end-of-course competition. <p></p> The lab has been providing the equipment required and the technical assistance for a number of more advanced college graduation projects. And this is the area which we want to work on further, by encouraging people ,specially electronic engineers and IT graduates, to engage in building their own (advanced) prototypes. Ultimately, our lab aims to become a real research and innovation center. <p></p> Recently, Fab Lab Libya has engaged on a project by Expertise France concerned with entrepreneurship. Through this project members of the Fab Lab are being trained in entrepreneur coaching,where the lab is required to train and coach female entrepreneurs to establish their businesses. In addition to carrying out workshops on entrepreneurship to youth and specifically to university students.

The Department of Software Engineering is one of the main departments in the College of Computer Science and Information Technology. The student is awarded a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Software Engineering after successfully completing 135 credit hours, according to the requirements of the scientific department, with an average of no less than 2 points out of a total of 4 points, and in a period of eight semesters. Ghana Code Club
Ghana Code Club registered under the Healthy Career Initiative, is a Non-Governmental Organization in Ghana. Our aim is to equip Ghanaian children and youth with a focus on inclusion of underrepresented groups, with the skills they need to be prepared for further studies, including advanced digital skills and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses, leading to the jobs of the future. <p></p> <mark>Ghana Code Club organizes coding programs, robotic and technology classes from Schools, Libraries, community centers through a network of trained educators and volunteers to guide kids and teens to program using visual and text languages such as Scratch, HTML/CSS, Python and others to make computer games, animations, websites and mobile apps. We also use incredible hardware from Arduino, BeeBots, Revolution Robotics, micro: bits, programmable drones, makey-makey kits etc to make our lessons practical and fun for our code clubs.</mark> <p></p> Computer programming, computer science and STEM programs are important concepts for today鈥檚 world; - that is why we are on a mission to ensure no child particularly girls are left out. The Recycle Up! Hub is a safe space for young Ghanaians to develop their professional skills, explore, collaborate and develop entrepreneurial ideas that promote the circular economy. This is the Information Technology age and at its core is Computer Science. The study of computer science is therefore critical if society is to take full advantage of the benefits Information Technology has to offer and make rapid economic advances. Computer science involves the study and development of applications that allow for our everyday use of computers, the software systems that support these applications, and the means and methods used to produce both applications and systems that behave reliably, correctly and ethically. University of Cape Coast
For more than 25 years, computing courses have been provided for students from various departments by the computer centre. With the recent developments and trends in the information technology (IT), the University of Cape Coast established an academic department known as the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. The primary focus of this department is teaching and research in computing. Furthermore the need for trained computer scientists and information technologists is one of the challenges that face the rapidly growing Ghanaian economy. <p></p> The worldwide shortage of qualified human resources in IT has been the main obstacles to the deployment, exploitation and development of ICT to accelerate socio-economic development. In Ghana there is an urgent need to meet this shortfall in computer science with graduate having the requisite skills. <mark>This programme is geared toward this major area of manpower requirement by preparing qualified SSS graduate for a career in IT. The programmes that the DCSIT runs are geared towards this major area of manpower requirement. In this regard, the department admits qualified SSS graduates and train them for a career in computing.</mark> <p></p> The Department offers three programs: BSc Computer Science, BSc Information Technology and a PhD in Computer Science and Application. These programs provide a comprehensive education in both theoretical and practical aspects of Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT). There are a variety of exciting courses, including software engineering, artificial intelligence, internet systems and technology, computer security, algorithms, data structures, programming languages, operating systems hardware development, databases, networks design, business management and practices, as well cryptography, Data mining, Optimization as some of our doctoral studies in computing-related fields.

Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and transnational research on applications that encourages basic and advanced research. <p></p> The Department of Computer Science is one of the five departments of the Faculty of Physical and Computational Sciences of the College of Science. The Department started with a 1-year certificate course in Data Processing which has currently been stopped. Many years down the line, the Department now runs a 4 -year degree programme in Computer Science. The Department was the first Department in the country to start a degree programme in Computer Science and this has been recognized by the government through the Ministry of Communication. As such, in late 2007, the Department was presented with an award during the first Information Communication and Technology Award night.
